Moving Your Friends...

No, we’re not suggesting that you PACK your friends in a box – though the idea IS kind of funny…

There are a few things you can do to bring your friendships with you and keep them alive.

Check out these suggestions:

  1. Write down contact info for all your friends: snail-mail address, phone number with area-code, email address, and a parent’s full name (useful to track someone down after losing touch).
  2. Take lots of photos of your friends, your community and your surroundings.
  3. Make a business card with your future contact info and distribute cards to your friends, teachers, coaches, youth staff at the base, and anyone else you want to stay connected with.
  4. Organize a huge “I’m Going Away Party”. Best to check with your family first though…
  5. Tell your friends that you care about them. Yeah, we know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but talking about it can make such a difference!

Make plans to see your friends in the not-too-distant future. Plan to visit them or invite them to visit you (you might want to tell your parents first since they’ll probably be paying for the ticket!).
