Moving Your Friends...
No, we’re not suggesting that you PACK your friends in a box – though the idea IS kind of funny…
There are a few things you can do to bring your friendships with you and keep them alive.
Check out these suggestions:
- Write down contact info for all your friends: snail-mail address, phone number with area-code, email address, and a parent’s full name (useful to track someone down after losing touch).
- Take lots of photos of your friends, your community and your surroundings.
- Make a business card with your future contact info and distribute cards to your friends, teachers, coaches, youth staff at the base, and anyone else you want to stay connected with.
- Organize a huge “I’m Going Away Party”. Best to check with your family first though…
- Tell your friends that you care about them. Yeah, we know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but talking about it can make such a difference!
Make plans to see your friends in the not-too-distant future. Plan to visit them or invite them to visit you (you might want to tell your parents first since they’ll probably be paying for the ticket!).
